A lot of you may have wondered why I’ve taken such a passionate handle on my business. So much has happened in such a short time. I upgraded my gear, set up my business and began streamlining my practices.
Now then, I didn’t just wake up and decide to do this. To be frank, I wasn’t sure what I needed to do. My business is everything to me, and I wanted it to grow and I wanted to grow as a photographer.
Back in September, I joined a photography education group on Facebook after I was invited by a friend. I didn’t realize how much it would impact me. I stayed up all hours of the night watching YouTube videos on how to master my camera.
When the educator, Brittany Bruce, dropped her Photography 101 course, I had to have it. I worked hard to get the money needed to buy it. I learned so much from it, and it only made me want to learn more.
After watching my photog friend Erica Kent go to the first ever Brittany Bruce Mastermind, I knew this was something I needed. I knew I craved community, growth and guidance.
When Brittany announced the Mastermind for March, I was sad. I already had a plane ticket in my hand for New York City. But I waited to see if there would be another one. Luckily, there was.
She announced a Summer Mastermind in March, not long after I returned home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I applied only 15 minutes after the application was released.
When I found out I was accepted, it was so overwhelming. I was ugly crying in my front yard, I couldn’t believe it.
I had half of the money, and I knew that once I started working, I would be able to pay for it. Thanks to my precious boyfriend, I could sign my name on the dotted line.
Since then, I’ve been immersed in a community of like-minded photographers that want the same thing as me: to be the best version of themselves and grow their business. I’ve learned even more since then, and I can’t wait to meet everyone in person come September.
