“This is what I know: In this life, a steady love, and a place to call home, are far more precious than all the earthly possessions and wealth in the world.” – B.T.
On a Friday in December, I got to spend the day with Nikki and Justin. We made a day out of it and drove to Saint Francisville, Louisiana. I would highly recommend for anyone in need of a beautiful location for pictures! I had been wanting to shoot at Rosedown for a while, and I finally got the chance to do so.
Before their session, we had lunch at The Francis Southern Table and Bar. The food was great, but the conversation was even better. Justin even tried a new food and liked it.
Once we arrived at Rosedown, we explored a little bit before we started shooting. Nikki and Justin looked great for their session, and both of their outfit choices were fantastic.
We started out with taking casual shots since they both had the cutest sweaters. It gave me all of the coziest feelings. When they changed into their formal outfits, I was blown away.
Nikki and Justin both looked so dreamy; they could’ve stepped straight out of a Pinterest board. Nikki had the prettiest green dress and Justin’s dress shirt perfectly complimented that.
I had such a great time with them as we explored the gardens and I captured them together. One thing I appreciate about them is that we’re already friends. This meant the day felt more like pleasure than business.
Even though it was December, Rosedown was still green as it could have been during spring. I absolutely loved it.
Nikki and Justin have always known each other since they grew up in the same community. In Justin’s mind, Nikki was always “the girl from New Zion.” They started seeing each other around more when Nikki started attending public school.
They began dating junior year of high school. As high school sweethearts, they attended junior and senior college together and they have been inseparable.
In August of 2020, Justin asked Nikki to spend her life with him. He even had their families come up to Starkville as a surprise. They’ll tie the knot in May this year.
For Justin, his favorite thing about Nikki is how much she cares about people. He appreciates her attention to detail and how well she splits her time between their two families. He loves her ambition and passion. He knew she was the one when she would willingly give up time so he could spend time with his friends. But the thing is that he would rather be with her.
For Nikki, her favorite thing about Justin is his caring nature and how he’s willing to go out of his way to help others. She knew he was the one when they first started dating. It’s the little things for her, like when he puts his hand up to block the light while she sleeps in the car.
My favorite part of their session was watching you interact with each other. It appears so easy and genuine, and it reminds me of a steady stream. I loved watching Justin make her laugh, it gave me all of the warm and fuzzy feelings.
Nikki, Justin, I’m so honored that I could shoot your engagement session. I’m so excited to shoot your wedding and witness you joining together as one.
I had the best day with you guys, and I hope you enjoyed yourselves too. I pray that your love is as steady in 50 years as it is in this season of life.
Watch for deer,
Gracie
