“I love you with a deeper love than any human heart has ever known. I love you with a soul that has lived a thousand lifetimes, always waiting to meet you again, so I can promise to be yours forever.” – c.m.
On a cool day in January, Hunter and I had the pleasure of meeting up with Shannon and Caleb so I could shoot their engagement session. We met for lunch at Foxes’s/1905 and ate lunch before starting their session.
Most of the session took place in downtown Brookhaven, which was sentimental for them because of how much time they’ve spent there.
Our lunch date went great, I had the opportunity to catch up them and we got to talk about their big day in April.
I knew I wanted to take Shannon and Caleb to South Jackson Street, so we made our way over there to start their session after lunch. Their first outfit was so cute! They coordinated and wore the prettiest pastels!
This portion of their session went fantastic! While the sun wasn’t out, the overcast light was still pretty, not to mention the neighborhood we were in made everything so dreamy. Caleb wore a plaid collared shirt and pants and Shannon wore a mint scallop-sleeved top and a headband to match with pants.
Their second outfit was perfect for what they were doing! Shannon and Caleb brought smoke bombs and their second outfits matched the colors of the smoke!
We drove around going from spot to spot and had the best time. For me, Shannon and Caleb aren’t just my clients, or simple another #GBCouple. They were some of the first people I met when I moved to Brookhaven a decade ago. We’ve been friends for that long and I’m absolutely thrilled to be documenting one of the biggest days of their lives.
The day was slightly cool, but not too cold. Everything went as smoothly as it possibly could have.
Shannon and Caleb first met as kids. They often saw each other at the same hangouts like the Brookhaven Skating Rink. They ended up becoming friends with a lot of the same people and found themselves in the same friend group. Once they were both a part of “The BroD Bunch,” they were inseparable. While life has often separated them, the two always found their way back to one another.
They have been officially dating for the past three years, but unofficially for four.
Caleb proposed to Shannon the first time on February 4, 2019. While she already knew her answer would be yes, but she told him she wanted to wait to see if he really meant it. So, she asked him to wait and ask again in a year. She didn’t want it to feel rushed.
After a year he proposed again on February 29, 2020 during their work meeting. He left right before the meeting started and then they revealed their employees of the quarter. Three other employees as well as Shannon were picked and told to stand up. One by one their general manager had told them to sit until she only remained standing while everybody clapped for us.
The next thing Shannon knew the clapping had stopped and she was still being told to stand up as Caleb had walked up to her.
The next thing she knew he asked her a very important question.
“You know how I love the number four?” he said.
She answered back with a slow yes as he then got on one knee and then asked her to marry him. He pulled the ring out and she said yes.
For Shannon, her favorite feature of Caleb is his eyes. She loves how big and gorgeous they are. For her, eyes are the window to the soul and she loves seeing through him that way. She said his eyes can stop her dead in her tracks.
She knew he was the one when they were younger. They had gone to the movies and when the movie ended, they said their goodbyes and kissed. She said she’s never felt anything from a kiss by anyone until that one with him for the first time.
She said it made her feel as if they were the only beings alive in an infinite universe. It was liked everything seemed to fade away except for the two of us.
For Caleb, his favorite thing about Shannon is her demeanor. He said the way she has about her is adorable and melts him down like a candle. He said her smile makes him fall in love all over again.
He knew she was the one when she finally gave him a chance and believed in him the way nobody else ever has. She trusted him to show her how she deserves to be treated. He said he made a promise to himself and to her that he would always love and cherish their time together.
Shannon, Caleb, I’m so honored that I could shoot your engagement session. I’m so excited to shoot your wedding and witness you joining together as one.
I had the best day with you guys, and I pray that you value each other as much as you do today in the years to come.
Watch for deer,
Gracie
